Statement from Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre on Hindu Heritage Month

Ottawa, ON – The Hon. Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada and the Official Opposition, released the following statement on Hindu Heritage Month:

“Within the heart of every faithful Hindu lives the values of eternal peace, harmony, hope and compassion. Over generations, as Hindus have dedicated their lives to fulfilling their dharma, they have become champions of truth and light, even when the world around them has seemed dark.

“As the world’s oldest religion, Hinduism has been a driving force behind historic advancements in medicine and science. The Vedas, ancient texts and religious scriptures such as the Sushruta Samhita and the Bhagavad Gita, have preserved practical wisdom and timeless spiritual truths for the modern day. Hindu traditions, art and literature have been an incredible source of inspiration and comfort for millions of people.

“As home to more than 800,000 Hindus, Canada has been profoundly blessed by this rich inheritance. In every region of our country, in every community and city, Hindus have built upon this powerful legacy. They have lifted one another up and freely shared the strength of their spirituality with all others, regardless of their background.

“As we celebrate Hindu Heritage Month this November, Canadians are reminded of the inspiring contributions of Hindus to our nation. On behalf of Canada’s Common Sense Conservatives, my best wishes to Hindu Canadians across the country as you honour the richness and beauty of this heritage.”
