Trudeau Minister Fails To Turn Up For Her Job

Ottawa, ON – Clifford Small, Conservative Shadow Minister for Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, released the following statement on Trudeau’s Minister’s failure to be accountable to Canadians:

“Yesterday, Trudeau’s Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, Diane Lebouthillier, refused for the third time this year, to show up to committee and answer questions that Coastal Canadians depend on. Instead, Lebouthillier chose to hide behind her department officials, keeping coastal Canadians in the dark.

“Lebouthillier’s refusal to show up for her job shows that the Liberal Government does not care about the issues facing Canadians on our coasts. Instead of focusing on policies that would allow our coastal economies and communities to thrive, Trudeau has replaced minister after minister with Lebouthillier being the sixth minister in eight years. Yet, this government is still failing our blue economy.

“No matter which Liberal politician was in control, they continue to divide Canadians with inadequate consultations and have refused to listen when these Canadians’ livelihoods are on the line.

“Only Common Sense Conservatives will ensure our coastal economies thrive. Enough is enough, Canadians deserve a government that is accountable to the people.”
