Trudeau Ministers Refuse To Answer Questions About Their Plan To Stop Building Roads

Ottawa, ON – Mark Strahl, Conservative Shadow Minister for Transport, and Dr. Leslyn Lewis, Conservative Shadow Minister for Infrastructure and Communities, released the following statement on Steven Guilbeault’s refusal to be questioned on his plan to stop building roads:

“After eight years of Justin Trudeau, the Liberal Government has given up on transparency. After Trudeau’s radical Environment Minister, Steven Guilbeault, dropped the bombshell that the Liberal Government would stop building roads, he is now refusing to answer any questions from Common Sense Conservative MPs in Committee.

“On top of this, Ministers Sean Fraser and Pablo Rodriguez have also failed to appear before the Committee. This means Canadians are being kept in the dark over the Liberals’ plan to leave Canadians with gridlocked traffic, deteriorating roads, and a dangerous lack of road access. This policy will affect millions of Canadians who need to pick their children up from school or go to work. Roads aren’t a luxury for hard-working Canadians, they are essential.

“This extreme position makes it clear that this Liberal Government is out of touch with anyone who doesn’t live in one of Canada’s largest cities. This Liberal policy would be a devastating policy for rural, remote and northern communities that cannot grow and thrive without federal support for road infrastructure.

“Only Common Sense Conservatives will build the roads, homes and infrastructure Canadians desperately need.”
