Trudeau’s Carbon Tax Will Cost Every Canadian Worker $6,700 Per Year

Ottawa, ON – After nine years of Justin Trudeau, life has never been more expensive. The Liberals’ inflationary carbon tax has driven up the cost of everything, forcing families to pay $700 more for food this year than they did in 2023, while a record number of Canadians are having to line up outside of food banks just to survive.

Now, according to a report today from the Fraser Institute, Trudeau’s carbon tax has again been proven to be nothing more than an expensive scam. This report made clear that the carbon tax will cost the average Canadian worker $6,700 by 2030. Nobody can afford this.

Worse still, the same report showed that Trudeau’s carbon tax will lead to 164,000 fewer jobs, meaning Canadians will have fewer opportunities to earn a paycheque while the price of food and gas surges. It will also reduce Canada’s GDP by 6.2 percent by 2030.

It wasn’t like this before Justin Trudeau. Instead of providing Canadians with relief, Trudeau decided to hike his carbon tax by 23 percent in April. The Liberals justified this by saying that the carbon tax was somehow making Canadians better off, even though the Parliamentary Budget Officer has said otherwise.

The Parliamentary Budget Officer was clear when he said the carbon tax will cost Canadians more than they get back in any rebates. Even the government’s own data, which they tried to hide from Canadians, showed that the carbon tax will cost the Canadian economy $30.5 billion per year by 2030.

Trudeau’s carbon tax has never been an environmental plan. It’s a tax plan that forces working Canadians to pay for the Liberal Government’s out-of-control spending. Only Common Sense Conservatives will axe the tax and bring home powerful paycheques for working Canadians.
